Former Chelsea defender Paul Parker has admitted he’d be “astounded” if the Blues signed Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

Chelsea are set for another busy summer and have already agreed a £30m deal with Ipswich for Liam Delap, with the striker set to undergo his medical on Monday.

The Blues could well sign another striker, but are also looking at a centre back and right footed attacker to bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad.

There’s set to be movement in the wides areas with Chelsea yet to take a final decision on the future of Jadon Sancho.

The Blues are said to be in conversations with the agents of Sancho, whilst Estevao Willian will arrive after the Club World Cup.

The Blues were linked with a move for Garnacho in January but opted against making an offer and the Argentine has been told to find a new club this summer.

The links haven’t disappeared and United are said to want £60m for Garnacho, but former Blue Parker feels a move for the Argentine doesn’t make sense.

“I’d be astounded if Chelsea sign him [Garnacho],” he said as cited on X.com.

“It doesn’t make any sense, in my opinion, with the wide players they’ve got already. Do Chelsea, given the size of their squad and what they’ve got, do they need someone like Garnacho there who will be expecting to start every single game? Do they need that?”

Garnacho has almost certainly played his final game for United and the 20-year-old scored 11 goals and registered ten assists in 58 appearances in all competitions last season.

Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens target

Chelsea have other names on their list including Spain international Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

Williams has been described as a “dream” transfer target, but he could demand as much as £400,000 per week to make a switch to the Premier League.

Chelsea are said to “love” Gittens, who scored 12 goals for Dortmund this season and are thought to be prepared to offer him a deal which would see him double his current salary.
