Milan’s decision to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City could prove to be a timely call after Emerson Royal was forced off during the opening exchanges of his side’s home clash against Girona in the Champions League.
The former Tottenham defender limped off the pitch less than five minutes into proceedings, as he fell on the ground after a challenge from an Girona’s Bryan Gil who ended up trodding on his foot, leaving him in pain.

Subsequent treatment from the staff wasn’t enough to get the 26-year-old back on his feet, forcing coach Sergio Conceição to replace him with Davide Calabria.
The Brazilian was clearly limping while leaving the field and going straight into the tunnel accompanied by medical staff, suggesting he may have picked up a serious injury, although tests will clarify the real entity of the issue.

Emerson Royal has been considered the first-choice option as a right-back by both Paulo Fonseca and now Sergio Conceição, meaning his absence could pave the way for Walker’s debut already in the coming games, as the English international is said to be on the verge of joining the Rossoneri.
