Christian Vieri says that if he were Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi he would take forward Rafael Leao from AC Milan.
Vieri spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. He also suggested that Milan coach Sergio Conceicao would take “8-9 Inter players.”
Inter and Milan face off in the derby this evening in Serie A.
The derby could come down to individual quality.
Certainly, that will not be the only factor. The derby is always an unpredictable match, and team organization, motivation, and the fortune of individual episodes can always be decisive.
But at the same time, the individual quality of the players for each team could be key.
As far as players from the two derby rivals that he would take if he were the teams’ respective coaches, former Inter and Milan striker Vieri had some thoughts.
“If I were Inzaghi, I’d take Rafael Leao from Milan,” he said.

But then, Vieri noted that “If I were Conceicao, I’d take eight or nine Inter players.”
Meanwhile, as far as who Inter strike pair Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram remind him of, Vieri named two Manchester United legends.
He named “The Calypso Boys.”
“Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke at Manchester United,” he said. “The chemistry both on and off the pitch, like them.”
And as far as which of Martinez or Thuram will score more at the end of the season, Vieri admitted “I don’t know.”
“It’s easier to say that both can get to twenty goals,” he added.
“And if Inter keep going like this, one of them could even overtake Retegui [in the Serie A scoring charts].”
Meanwhile, Christian Vieri said that “I’ll tell you my top five favourites to win the Champions League.”
He named “Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, and Liverpool.”
“Plus, City as a bit of an underdog. That’s funny, eh?”
“And the ones who play the best football are Inter, Liverpool, and Barcelona,” Vieri argued.
