Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci expects Inter Milan, Napoli, and Juventus are all in the Serie A title race for the long haul.

The former Italian international spoke to reporters outside the Trento Festival of Sport, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on how the Serie A title race could shape up.

At the moment, Napoli, Inter, and Juventus occupy the top three spots in the Serie A table.

This is not too much of a surprise. The three are certainly among the teams who had been widely expected to be among the top sides in the Italian top flight this season.

Then, Lazio are level on points with Juventus.

A little further back are AC Milan. They have had a few setbacks early on in the campaign, losing to Fiorentina just before the international break.

But the Rossoneri are still very much within touching distance.

Meanwhile, the likes of Atalanta and Roma find themselves trying to climb the table to get into the top four.

Former Juventus and Milan defender Bonucci is certainly a player who knows how to win the Serie A title.

The former Italian international won a total of eight titles with the Bianconeri. He was one of the key players for them under Antonio Conte, Max Allegri, and Maurizio Sarri.

In Bonucci’s view, “Napoli, Inter, and Juve will fight for the Scudetto.”

“I’ve also liked what I’ve seen from Lazio,” he said. “They’re playing well, I like watching them.”

“And then Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta always have to be taken into consideration for the top spots.”

“But I believe that the three at the top are the main candidates to win in the end,” Bonucci said.

“I see Milan as a step below them.”
