Don Goodman has questioned whether Jack Rudoni should remain at Coventry City despite the temptation of Premier League football with Leeds United.

Pundit Don Goodman believes Coventry City playmaker Jack Rudoni should think carefully about whether he wants to switch to Leeds United during the summer transfer window.

The Whites are making early preparations for their return to the Premier League after winning the Championship title this season.

From lifting the second tier crown, Leeds are believed to have a transfer kitty of around £100 million to spend following promotion, and are determined to use it wisely to be competitive and avoid immediate relegation back to the second tier.

Daniel Farke’s men are eyeing up a creative playmaker to help the goals flow at Elland Road to keep them in the top-flight at the first attempt, and have recently been touted to make a move for Coventry City man Jack Rudoni, who is also reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United.

The former Huddersfield Town midfielder had a superb season for the Sky Blues, finding his feet in Frank Lampard’s system and playing a significant role in their run to the play-offs. Rudoni ended the season with nine goals and 12 assists under his belt in the Championship but could be on the move this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman believes Jack Rudoni will be keen on a move to Elland Road to realise his top-flight ambitions, but insisted he should think about continuing his development under Frank Lampard at the CBS Arena.

Goodman said: “I understand the interest and would understand the interest from Jack Rudoni’s perspective of playing in the Premier League.

“I do think Coventry will be really positive in the summer and Jack Rudoni is playing for his boyhood hero under Frank Lampard. Coventry will show ambition to be at the very top of the Championship next season, whereas if he goes to Leeds United, will he get the game time? That would be a question.

“You obviously have to back yourself and have confidence In your own ability as a player and I’m sure he would do that.

“I can understand temptation, but I’d be thinking very carefully about it.”

Jack Rudoni should remain at Coventry City next season

Despite suffering heartbreak in the play-offs, Jack Rudoni proved this season that he is a Premier League player in the making, so you can see why a team like Leeds United are interested in swooping in for his services.

However, Rudoni has thrived working with Frank Lampard, and a move to Leeds could detail all the positive momentum generated over the course of this season, particularly if he doesn’t suit Daniel Farke’s way of playing or is down the pecking order upon arrival.

One thing that is for certain is that Rudoni is one of the first names on the teamsheet at the CBS Arena, and if Coventry could build on what they achieved this term, then he could have a massive part to play in returning the Sky Blues to the Premier League.

Therefore, it makes sense for the 23-year-old to develop on the success of this season and trust the project going on at Coventry to be one of England’s elite sides again.
