Inter are one step away from their first Champions League win since 2010, when Jose Mourinho won the treble with the Nerazzurri.

So far in the competition, Inter have been behind the least number of minutes and that majorly was the case against Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the last two rounds. That speaks volumes for how impressive Inter have been and it is also emblematic for how they operate as well under Simone Inzaghi.

With that in mind, we take a look at what makes Inter a very reliable footballing identity.

Stability as a club

Inter are arguably the most stable club in Serie A and it is best evidenced by how pretty much every other major side in Italy is looking for a new manager.

They have benefitted from the fact that they went from having a 3-5-2 manager in Antonio Conte to another manager in Inzaghi who uses the same formation.

It has helped them a lot and it has become a part of their identity.

A flexible style of play

Inter do play a 3-5-2 on paper but they are incredibly versatile in and out of possession and Inzaghi uses multi-functional players to make that happen.

It came through against Bayern Munich and Barcelona, where their shape-shifting abilities helped them manage difficult phases in the game. It has also helped them play well in tight games and make sure that even if they do not get out of third gear, they win games.

A combination of young and old

Inter are well-known for their recruitment and they bring every sort of player together. From older veterans from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Francesco Acerbi to established younger players like Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella, they have signed every player in a very smart way and the presence of a stable setup helps in that.

They are, as a result, the example of what Serie A clubs should be and stand out.
