Folarin Balogun, who missed the win over Olympique Lyonnais last weekend with an ankle injury, will not play any part against RC Lens this weekend, Adi Hütter has confirmed.
The USMNT forward suffered the injury in the final training session before the game against Lyon on Saturday. That win for AS Monaco ensured that the club qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Post-match, Hütter said that Balogun may be fit to face RC Lens this Saturday, however, given that the objective of UCL qualification had been achieved, no risk would be taken.
Hütter, in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, confirmed that the centre-forward has sustained a damaged ligament. Despite attempting to train this week, the injury was still too painful and so Balogun will play no part. Aleksandr Golovin and Moatasem Al-Musrati will also miss the match at the Bollaert. The latter, on loan from Besiktas, may have played his final game for Les Monégasques, unless the club exercise the option to make the loan permanent.
