Ex-Arsenal starlet Arturo Lupoli reunited with Giuseppe Rossi on Saturday, scoring a goal in Pepito’s farewell match at the Stadio Franchi.
Lupoli was regarded as one of the most promising Italian strikers but only made one appearance with the Gunners against Blackburn in February 2006.
A few months later, he was part of the squad that travelled to Paris for the Champions League Final against Barcelona, joining Gunners legends such as Thierry Henry.
He seemed set for a big career, but unfortunately, Lupoli never fulfilled his potential, spending most of his career in Italy’s second division, Serie B.
Lupoli and Rossi, a former Manchester United striker, have been close friends for a long time, and Lupoli was among those invited to Pepito’s farewell match at the Stadio Franchi on Saturday.
Lupoli was introduced in the second half and scored a goal for the Pepito Team, which eventually secured a 7-5 victory.
Gabriel Omar Batistuta and Mario Gomez were among the legends who scored at the Stadio Franchi, while ex-Italy international Francesco Toldo saved a penalty kick. Rossi netted a brace and played for both sides this evening.
Lupoli retired in 2022 and is now 37 years old.
