Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-2 in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville. After Pedri gave the Catalans a first-half lead with a solid strike, the Whites would respond strongly and turned the game around through goals from Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni in the second half.

However, a couple of individual mistakes allowed Ferran Torres to equalise before full time and Jules Kounde to grab the winner prior to the end of extra time. As Los Blancos fell to defeat to their bitter rivals for a third time this season, here is a look at how their players fared in the game.

Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois – 7/10

Courtois made two good saves off Kounde and Lamine Yamal but was at fault for Torres’ goal and might have done better to thwart Kounde in extra time.

Lucas Vazquez – 6/10

Vazquez looked average in the first half. Though he was caught out of position a couple of times, Raphinha did not punish the lapse.

Raul Asencio – 7.5/10

Asencio doubled team well with Vazquez and Valverde to keep Raphinha, Barcelona’s best player this season, at bay. He made four clearances and as many recoveries.

Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10

Besides the mistake which led to the equaliser, Rudiger dealt well with Torres and controlled the backline before succumbing to a possible injury in extra time.

Ferland Mendy – N/A

Mendy’s return from injury was cut short by an aggravation in just nine minutes, but not before Yamal troubled him very early on.

Aurelien Tchouameni – 8.5/10

An exceptional performance by Tchouameni, who scored his first-ever goal against Barcelona. He made four clearances, won all his tackles and succeeded in nine duels.

Federico Valverde – 8/10

Valverde was brilliant once more. He was all over the right flank and made some vital interceptions when Barcelona were on the attack, while being particularly solid when he switched to playing right back.

Dani Ceballos – 5/10

Ceballos was on the pitch for less than an hour but did not have much to show for it. His passing accuracy of just 76% was underwhelming as well.

Jude Bellingham – 8.5/10

An amazing outing for Bellingham, who was among a handful of players who did not deserve to be on the losing side. With 14 duels won, four tackles, 89% passing and three chances created, he was superb.

Rodrygo Goes – 4/10

Another disappointing game for Rodrygo, who had just 23 touches in 45 minutes on the pitch. He had just one completed dribble and was dispossessed thrice by the inexperienced Gerard Martin.

Vinicius Junior – 7/10

Vinicius seemed like making the difference in both halves as well as early in extra time but made some poor decisions or was not found by his teammates at the right time in the final third.

Substitutes

Fran Garcia – 3/10

A pathetic game by Fran Garcia was one of the reasons why Real Madrid lost. He had a torrid time against Yamal, who would dribble past the Spaniard at will, while also misplacing the easiest of passes with the ball at his feet.

Kylian Mbappe – 8/10

Mbappe bagged Madrid’s equaliser with a great free-kick and made some brilliant runs in the final third after coming on. His link-up play and quick movement changed the game.

Luka Modric – 7.5/10

Modric gave Real Madrid much-needed control in midfield. He completed all his dribbles, succeeded in three out of four long balls and had 89% passing accuracy.

Arda Guler – 7.5/10

Guler’s distribution from deep was helpful as the Merengues tried to trump a disciplined Barcelona backline. He created three chances in just an hour on the pitch and also assisted Tchouameni’s goal.

Brahim Diaz – 3.5/10

Brahim did no good in offence with some poor decision-making and was lazy in getting to the ball, which led to Kounde bagging the decisive goal in extra time.

Endrick – N/A

Endrick was on the pitch for less than 10 minutes and did not partake in much action to be rated.
