Later on today, Tottenham Hotspur will be in action across London, as they face Fulham on match day 29 of the Premier League season. The two sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in December - the beginning of a miserable run in the Premier League.
For the task at hand, Ange Postecoglou has opted for the following XI; Vicario; Spence, Romero, Davies. Udogie; Gray, Bentancur, Bissouma; Johnson, Solanke, Tel.
Meanwhile, the bench contains; Kinsky, Van de Ven, Porro, Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison, Odobert, Son, Scarlett.
Ange makes seven changes to the team that beat AZ Alkmaar in midweek, with Udogie, Davies, Bentancur, Bissouma, Gray, Johnson and Tel replacing Porro, Van de Ven, Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison, Odobert and Son.
After an intense 90 minutes on Thursday, changes were always going to be made. If there was one criticism - the midfield is a bit defensive, with Maddison about to get a two week rest, perhaps he had one more start in him? That is splitting hairs though. Good to see Gray finally get a start in midfield regardless (albeit, we all thought he was going to against Everton in January).
Some may also say that with Van de Ven not on international duty, it would have been less risky to start him - but anything to protect his hamstrings, At all costs.
Meanwhile, Fulham have gone with a line up of; Bernd Leno; Timothy Castagne, Joachim Andersen, Calvin Bassey, Antonee Robinson; Andreas Pereira, Sander Berge; Alexander Iwobi, Emile Smith-Rowe, Willian; Raul Jimenez.
As for the bench; Steven Benda, Jorge Cuenca, Joshua Kig, Ryan Sessegnon, Harrison Reed, Tom Cairrney, Martial Godo, Adama Traore, Rodrigo Muniz.
So, just the four former Arsenal players in the starting XI. Former Spurs player Sessegnon has a place on the bench. In the reverse fixture, Cairney came off the bench to score, but was also later sent off for a straight red after a VAR check.
The truth is, although you do want to win every game, in every competition - it just simply doesn't matter as much as Thursday evening, nor is it anywhere even close. Still, let's hope that, for once, Spurs don't go into the international break on a loss. They are currently on a streak of five straight defeats before breaks - the second of which was in this fixture last season, exactly one year ago today.
