Atalanta’s 0-0 draw against Cagliari on Saturday brought head coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s 600th Serie A point in charge of the club, which means he is now second place overall for coaches with the most Serie A points with a single club.

Gasperini’s tally of 600 points with Atalanta is second only to Massimiliano Allegri’s record of 663 points from his two spells with Juventus.

So, Gasperini needs 64 points to overtake Allegri, assuming that the latter is not re-appointed for a third Juventus spell. That is feasibly achievable before the end of next season.

There are still 13 league matches remaining of the 2024-25 campaign, which means a maximum of 39 points to play for. Given that Atalanta have achieved 60+ points in seven of the last eight Serie A seasons, it is not unrealistic that Gasperini overtakes Allegri midway through the 2025-26 campaign.

Gasp is currently eight place in terms of overall points achieved by Serie A coaches with 941 overall. He is likely to catch Carlo Ancelotti, in seventh with 950 points, before the end of the current campaign.

Carlo Mazzone is in sixth with 970 points, which means that Atalanta would have to win all 13 of their remaining matches if Gasperini is to catch up with him this season.

Luciano Spalletti is fifth overall with 996 points, Allegri in fourth with 1,012, Nils Liedholm in third with 1,038, Nereo Rocco in second with 1,159 and Giovanni Trappatoni in first with 1,264.
