Gavi’s positioning on the left allowed him to link up effectively with his teammates, providing both defensive support and creative outlets when moving forward.

It is evident that Hansi Flick values the youngster’s adaptability, frequently shifting him across various midfield roles depending on the needs of the team.

“The coach sees me in many positions on the pitch. I think I can perform in all of them mentally, although some may suit me better than others due to my abilities, but I have to do my part and perform,” he said after the match.

He also mentioned that the team is not too worried about the challenge from Real Madrid for the La Liga title.

“We don’t have to think about Real Madrid, only about ourselves because in the end it depends on us and if we win our games we will win the League. We believe in ourselves, the fans do too, and we will continue like this.”

Meanwhile, Fermin Lopez made a strong case for regular inclusion, filling in for the injured Dani Olmo and making a solid impact.

The youngster provided a crucial assist to Robert Lewandowski, showcasing excellent awareness and precision with his header to set up the Polish striker’s goal.

“The ball came to my head, I saw Lewandowski in the middle, I tried to pass it to him as best I could, and he scored a fantastic goal,” he explained.

Despite playing with limited rest since the international break, Fermin displayed his hunger and determination to make the most of his opportunities.

“We’re not looking for excuses regarding schedules or rest. We played well in both matches since the international break and deserved our victories.”

Eric Garcia’s moment

Eric Garcia also deserves recognition for his contribution, especially given his recent positional adjustments.

Having played as a central defender against Osasuna, Garcia was utilised as a central midfielder against Girona. Despite the shift in roles, he displayed maturity and composure, marking his 100th official appearance for Barcelona.

“For a kid who started at La Masia as a child and who has always been a Barça player, it’s obviously something special to continue,” he noted.

Although he naturally sees himself as a central defender, his ability to perform well in various positions is undoubtedly an asset for Flick.

The coach’s willingness to experiment with Garcia in different roles could prove crucial as Barcelona go through a demanding season filled with fixtures across multiple competitions.

Barcelona’s approach under Hansi Flick is becoming increasingly evident. The German manager’s ability to utilise his players’ versatility has allowed the team to remain competitive even when facing challenging schedules and injuries.
