Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini weighed in on Roma’s chances of reaching Top 4 placement in Serie A in the final weeks of the season.
A few days before the Giallorossi’s clash with Juventus, Giannini told Tuttosport, “Roma-Juventus has always been very balanced and it will be this time too. Whoever is best at exploiting the episodes will take home the result.”
“Dybala’s ideal replacement? There are Soulé and Baldanzi who are two players who can alternate. Depending on the opponents, the moment and the match, both can be useful.”
“Can Roma reach Top 4 without Dybala? In my opinion, no, they lose a lot with Paulo’s absence. However, there aren’t many games left, so Roma must be able to exploit the positive moments of the two players with the most creativity, Soulé and Baldanzi, hoping that Pellegrini can return to being an important player for the team.”
“Pellegrini? It’s difficult to judge a player who has alternated good things with less good ones, especially because I have great respect for him and I think he’s important for Roma. I hope he can demonstrate it in every situation.”
“Then it depends a lot on a man’s character, when I hear Ranieri talk about Lorenzo as an “atypical Roman”, he wants to make it clear that he’s not the classic brazen Roman, over the top, so when criticism rains down on him he takes it and suffers, struggling to react. He’s a low profile as a personality.”
“Ranieri? He made his experience and intelligence available to the team, immediately empathizing with an environment he already knew. These were his merits. He brought serenity, working on the players’ minds and then he put his own into it with the intuitions that in several matches changed and led Roma to victory.”
