Santiago Gimenez took a blow to the ankle during his last Mexico game, but he’ll be available against Napoli over the weekend. The marksman spoke about his time in Italy so far to Corriere della Sera.
“I’m fine, and I’ll be good to go for the next game. Winning helps winning and boosts your self-confidence, but I want to take home a trophy with the Rossoneri now. I came here for that. The last 50 days have been very intense, on and off the pitch. I’ve adapted to a new city and environment. Now I want to do what I aimed to in the first place: scoring and winning.”
Gimenez hasn’t found the target in a while.
“I’m sure the goals will come, but results matter more, like in the last two games. We’re working hard under coach Sergio Conceiçao. We’re not happy about our position in the standings. However, it’s not over yet. We believe in a top-four finish. I’m looking forward to the Derby in the Coppa Italia too.”
Gimenez addressed his transfer and Serie A.
“Changing is always complicated, and I’m not at my usual level yet. However, I’m learning and getting to know the defenders and the opponents. There’s a lot of pressure, but that’s beautiful. I joined Milan for that. I know I can do it, also thanks to the help of Diòs.” “I’ve been diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis in my arm when I was 17. I had three surgeries and, at some point, the doctors said I would no longer be able to play if the final tests didn’t go well. I prayed for it, and everything worked out.”
