Giorno: Call closed for other San Siro offers – what happens now as Milan and Inter wait | OneFootball

AC Milan and Inter’s plan to build a new stadium continued after a deadline passed, with the next steps having been outlined.

According to Il Giorno (via MilanNews), the process for the sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas continues. After Milan and Inter presented their purchase proposal, the council published a call for tenders on March 24 to verify if there were any other parties interested in buying it.

The collection of expressions of interest relating to the real estate complex of the Grande Funzione Urbana (Gfu) ‘San Siro’ – including the current stadium – closed at midnight. In the next few hours it will be known if there are alternative offers to that of the two clubs.

What happens now?

There are two scenarios from here. If no other proposals have been received, as seems likely, the council will be able to immediately start a private negotiation with Milan and Inter for the sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas that the Revenue Agency has valued at €197m.

Both the two clubs and the council have the desire to close the sale before August because next Autumn, if San Siro remains municipal property, the Superintendency could trigger the constraint on the second ring of the stadium, thus preventing its demolition.

If, instead, an alternative offer to that of Milan and Inter were to arrive, the situation would become more complicated especially in terms of timing. The new proposals would have to be evaluated by the Inter-directional Working Group and by the Preliminary Service Conference.

The next step would be either the rejection of the proposal/proposals or subsequent procedures aimed at negotiation. The times would therefore be extended and it would not be easy to meet the aforementioned deadline of July 31.
