The Champions League is over for Girona. The red and white players have enjoyed a unique experience in Europe this season and, although the results have not gone their way, it will remain forever in the memory of the Club and the fans. Míchel Sánchez's men have competed toe-to-toe with the continent's big teams, putting the likes of PSG, Liverpool and Milan in many difficulties, and now they will try to bid farewell to the competition by giving the fans a magical night when another of the Premier League's top teams, Arsenal, visit Montilivi. Second in their domestic league and only five points behind the leader, Liverpool, they are having a great season. In the Champions League they are third with 16 points, and are almost guaranteed to be among the top eight after five wins, one draw and only one defeat. In the last European matchday they beat Dinamo Zagreb (3-0), and before that they had also beaten Monaco (0-3), Sporting Lisbon (1-5), PSG (2-0) and Lyon (2-0). They have only lost to Inter and only on penalty (1-0), and they dominate the defensive aspect like no other: they are the lowest scorers in the Premier League and second in the Champions League behind Inter, despite having conceded only two goals in seven matches.
At the helm of the team is Mikel Arteta, who is in his sixth season as Gunner manager. With him they have won two Community Shields, the last one last year, and this season they are having one of the best seasons of his time in the dugout. Through an attractive approach, with the ball as the backbone but without renouncing verticality, Arteta has built a highly competitive team with very prominent names in their ranks. Havertz leads the scoring charts with 12 goals, followed by Saka with nine. Martinelli has seven, and in the engine room they have talents such as Odegaard, Trossard and Rice. The usual first-choice goalkeeper is a Catalan, David Raya, who is also an international with the national team.
