As per Voetbal International, Jakob Breum isn’t fit to play in the KNVB Cup final, with the 21-year-old’s foot injury proving all too much. While the creative Danish winger will miss out, Go Ahead Eagles can count on the return of two other attacking forces against AZ.

Breum was injured in February after a duel with Daniele Rugani of Ajax, in which the attacking midfielder broke his foot. While the recovery period is nearing its end, questions always remained as to whether his foot would heal sufficiently, coach Paul Simonis reported earlier this month.

The 40-year-old trainer did not write him off yet, but it would certainly be a race against the clock to get him back in the team. However, that race is lost, as became clear during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

On the flip side, attacking midfielder and winger Søren Tengstedt will return in time from the bone fracture in his foot. The 24-year-old compatriot of Breum sustained his injury three Eredivisie matches earlier.

Striker Finn Stokkers will also reach the final, as he has recovered from his eye injury. It was previously announced that wing defender Dean James will not be fit in time for the final. The hope is that he can be fit in any capacity to help try and bring the silverware back to De Adelaarshorst.
