Barcelona are feeling increasingly optimistic about the possibility of Marc-Andre ter Stegen making an early return.

Reports from SPORT suggest that the club is gaining confidence in the idea that the goalkeeper could be available as early as April, which would be a significant boost for the team.

Ter Stegen has been making steady progress in his recovery from the serious knee injury he suffered on 22nd September last year. For weeks now, he has been training on the pitch at Ciutat Esportiva, and his rehabilitation is progressing at an impressive pace.

In fact, his recovery has exceeded even the most positive expectations, with his condition improving faster than initially predicted.

Steady progress

Despite the frustration of being sidelined for such a long period, the German goalkeeper remains highly satisfied with the way his recovery has been managed.

The club had always expected him to return before the end of the season, but the timeline is now being shortened.

His body is responding well to the rehabilitation process, and there have been no setbacks, which has only strengthened hopes of an earlier comeback.

No rush

Barcelona are not rushing his return and are taking all necessary precautions to ensure he is fully ready before stepping back onto the pitch.

However, if his physical condition continues to improve at the current rate, there will be no reason to delay his return beyond April.

Behind the scenes, there is growing belief that he could be available for the crucial stages of the Champions League, possibly even the quarter-finals.

That being said, the club will also have to navigate the process of registering him for the competition if he is declared fit in time.

For now, all signs point towards a much earlier return than initially expected, which would be a major boost for Barcelona as they enter the decisive phase of the season.
