A technically-gifted and charismatic player, with a brilliant knack for scoring from distance and an icon for his country: born on 6 March, 1977 in Pyrgos, Giorgos Karagounis celebrates his 48th birthday. One of Roberto Scarpini's most famous pieces of commentary came in the final six minutes of the 3-2 comeback from Inter vs. Sampdoria began with his own words: "Allarga là per Karagounis, allarga là per Karagounis". A suggestion, a pass called out as Javier Zanetti drove forward and laid it off to the Greek on the right. His right-foot was brilliant and he used it to score some amazing goals, as shown on a European night at San Siro: Inter 4-3 Benfica, as well as displaying great dribbling skills and impressive assists. After arriving to Inter in 2003, Karagounis made 36 appearances in two seasons, winning the Coppa Italia in 2005.
The entire Inter family would like to wish Giorgos a very Happy Birthday!
