Inter Milan did not look like a team using advantage of playing at the San Siro to full effect in their Serie A clash with Bologna on Wednesday.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, question whether the Nerazzurri have lost a certain aura from playing at the San Siro.
This season, Inter have been a real dominant force playing away from home in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri have managed to take an average of 2.56 points from their away matches this campaign.
After early stumbles away to Genoa and Monza, they’ve gotten the formula right on their travels.
On the other hand, Inter have taken 2.1 points playing at the San Siro. That has, however, seen them face the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli.
Inter’s Serie A draw against Bologna this week was a bit of a different story.
The Rossoblu are in the Champions League, and a team in good form. They are hardly to be underestimated.
But at the same time, Inter can’t really say that facing Bologna is like playing in the Milan Derby or the Derby d’Italia.
Nevertheless, Inter struggled to really put their stamp on Wednesday’s match.
Early on, Bologna were the team who dictated the high tempo. They showed little fear despite the partisan San Siro crowd.
And then in the second half, Inter were not able to use the boost of their home fans urging on to find a winner.
