Newcastle 2 Arsenal 0 (4-0 on aggregate) – Wednesday 5 February 8pm
The photo that Newcastle United fans had all really really wanted to see on Thursday morning.
As United are on their way to Wembley!
Alexander Isak leading the line superbly and so unlucky not to get a goal himself.
A dubious VAR offside denying him on four minutes but then his left foot long-range effort rebounded off the left post, Murphy on alert to finish it off.
Fabian Schar set up Anthony Gordon for the killer second not long after the break.
That quickly following a great chance for Gordon when he should have scored, having robbed the last Arsenal defender of the ball.
A great committed team performance though, United fully deserved the win and now back to Wembley!
Another winning snapshot post-match.
Another photo = The seventeenth of this season.
The Newcastle United Head Coach introduced this tradition of a post-match everybody included photo following each victory, as he felt it had worked as a bonding exercise when he was at Bournemouth.
(It is actually the nineteenth victory of the season for United but for whatever reasons, no winning photo after the win over AFC Wimbledon. Then at the Emirates, I think for sure that no post-match dressing room photo was done due to the fact the Arsenal semi-final tie was only at halfway.)
Eleven wins in the last thirteen games (all competitions) and the tenth photo from this run.
Great to see.
It is also a massive bonus just how much it winds up fans of certain other clubs and journalists.
‘Look at them, think they have won the Premier League / Champions League… etc etc’
I absolutely love it.
Fourteen more Premier League games to go, as well as fingers crossed plenty more FA Cup matches, plus the small matter of 16 March date at Wembley, so hopefully many more of these photos to come.
