How much extra money Norwich City may have to pay for Man City's Jacob Wright

The Manchester City youngster has made his loan move to Carrow Road permanent
Despite the transfer window not officially opening until June 1st, Norwich City have already secured their first signing of the summer.
Jacob Wright, who spent the latter half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Carrow Road from Premier League giants Manchester City, has made the permanent move to the Canaries on a long-term deal.
The 19-year-old signed a contract which will keep him at the club until 2029, with the option of a further year.
At just £2.3 million, it can be seen as a very low-risk, high-reward signing, with Wright arriving with plenty of promise and clear Championship quality, having come off the back of a solid second half of the season for Norwich, too.
And, even after extra add-ons raising the fee to just £3 million, the Canaries don't seem to be plunging far into their transfer budget to secure the exciting midfielder.
Jacob Wright's first move away from the Etihad Stadium since his arrival at Manchester City was a relatively large success, assisting four goals in just 10 starts during his brief spell at Norwich City.
Retaining the 19-year-old was one of the top things on Mark Attansio's to-do list this summer, regardless of who was going to be in the dugout following Johannes Hoff Thorup's April sacking. As it happens, Wright's arrival will come before a new manager announcement, with Bristol City boss Liam Manning still the favourite to be the new Canaries manager for next season.
And given a marginal transfer fee for a player with such potential, you can see why. Wright arrives at Carrow Road for just £2.3 million initially, with the fee possibly rising to £3 million with add-ons, according to the BBC.
The Manchester Evening News has also reported that the eight-time Premier League champions have inserted sell-on and buy-back clauses too, so it's clear that City still want to keep tabs on his growth with the possibility of making a profit if he did move on from Norwich, or that he may even find his way back to the club where the entirety of his youth career took place.
Jacob Wright has been on the fringes of breaking through into Pep Guardiola's squad for a couple of seasons now, which is still an impressive feat for a teenager and should fill Norwich fans with plenty of excitement.
Wright made his senior debut for the club aged just 18 in an FA Cup win over Huddersfield in January 2024. That season, he also made his Champions League debut in City's last-16 win over FC Copenhagen.
This campaign, whilst he's made more matchday squads, he hasn't been used from the bench as frequently, with his only senior appearances coming in the EFL Cup before his January switch to Norwich on loan.
His loan spell has been a success, though, despite the Canaries winning just three of the 15 games since his arrival, and bringing him in permanently shows a statement of intent from a new ownership that is desperate to bring Premier League football back to Carrow Road.
Norwich's sporting director, Ben Knapper, believes that "his potential is huge."
"Not only is he a very talented player, he has big leadership qualities and we're all excited to continue working with him to help achieve his potential and support us in striving towards our goals as a club," he told the club media.
Their primary goal this season is Premier League promotion. Clearly, they feel that Jacob Wright is the first step in making that a reality.
