All the latest news surrounding Hull City's search for a new manager
Hull City are currently without a manager following the decision to part ways with Ruben Selles at the end of the season.
The Spaniard was appointed by the Tigers in December after a disastrous start to the campaign left them in danger of relegation.
The 41-year-old successfully steered the Yorkshire outfit clear of the bottom three, but only on goal difference, leading to his dismissal.
Hull will now be hoping to appoint a head coach that can lead them to the top half of the Championship table, as they set their sights on a push for promotion to the Premier League.
Here we take a look at all the latest news surrounding the club’s search for a permanent replacement to Selles…
Hull were keen on the appointment of Miron Muslic from Plymouth Argyle, but look set to miss out on a move at this time.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Tigers had the 42-year-old on their radar as they search for Selles’ replacement.
However, he is now set to make the switch to 2. Bundesliga side Schalke following the activation of a release clause in his contract.
Muslic has earned a lot of plaudits for his work at Home Park, despite the team’s relegation from the Championship with a 23rd place finish.
It has been claimed by Sky Sports that the clause was worth £1 million, with the Pilgrims now planning for life in League One.
Nuri Şahin is featuring prominently on the bookmakers' odds to replace Selles at Hull.
The former midfielder has worked at both Borussia Dortmund and Antalyaspor, but could be set for a move to the Championship.
FLW’s Hull fan pundit Cameron Gibson told us that he believes fans would welcome this appointment, but claimed he needs to be given time to succeed.
“It’s certainly an interesting one, and it really depends on whether the owner will give him enough time,” said Gibson.
“Because clearly, there is something there for him to be a player at Antalyaspor, then become the manager there and go on to manage Borussia Dortmund, a Champions League team.
“There has got to be something good there.
“I just worry that Acun might not give him the time.
“I mean, we’ve had two young managers recently in Rosenior and Selles, so Şahin is going to be another young manager. Is he going to be someone who has enough time to implement his style, and also to learn the Championship?
“I do think then, it is something the fans will get behind because his ability as a player is there for everyone to see.
“He has played at the highest level, and Dortmund and Antalyaspor have clearly seen something in him.
“It’s just whether we can get the best out of him.”
Hull owner Acun Ilicali is reportedly hoping to seal an official appointment soon, and potentially even by the end of this week.
According to Hull Live, the name of the manager is being kept very under wraps by the club out of respect for his current team.
It is believed that he is very experienced in management, and that he also enjoyed a lengthy playing career in Europe.
