I fear for Eddie Howe

The project at Newcastle United has stalled.

Things really have been on a downward curve since we qualified for the Champions League in May 2023.

Aston Villa, who also have wealthy ownership, have overtaken us in the pecking order.

I hate to say it but Chelsea seem to be getting their mojo back. They may well have a million players but landed a gem in lifting Cole Palmer from Manchester City.

The defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at St James’ Park hurt me.

I didn’t expect it and preferred to think that United were finally going to click into gear, especially after a two week break following the goalless draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

I have heard some fans saying that we played well and that Brighton got lucky. That doesn’t matter. This game is a results business and Brighton are currently a direct rival that sit above us in the table.

Our next two Premier League fixtures are Chelsea away and Arsenal at home. I now fear for Eddie Howe.

So what are the chances of us turning our current form around? We have only taken two points from the last four games. If some out there aren’t now slightly worried or concerned, I would suggest they quickly take a smell and a swig of some strong coffee.

Newcastle United are a business that has been bought as an investment by some of the most pioneering people in the sporting World. They want the best, whether it be Golf, Boxing and so on.

Everybody knows that the EPL are holding us back with FFP and Profit and Sustainability restrictions.

That doesn’t mean that the Saudi Arabia PIF will not be ready to make changes if Newcastle’s results don’t improve quickly.

“We don’t want a team that wins, we want a team that tries.”

That came from the Mike Ashley era and is now outdated. Ashley only used and abused Newcastle United and the loyal supporters for his own personal gain.

The PIF came in three years ago and have backed the manager by providing funds and resources to the best of their capabilities. They are still very ambitious.

What if Eddie Howe cannot turn results around soon and we aren’t going into Christmas and the New Year in better spirits and high in the league?

I think you all know what the answer to that question is going to be.

Eddie Howe has been a very good manager for Newcastle United and I honestly don’t know who could replace him.

What I did think before a ball was kicked this season, was that United needed to progress as far as we could in the domestic cup competitions, and that European qualification had to be achieved.

It’s now over to you Eddie bonnie lad, and I sincerely wish you all the best.
