FLW's Portsmouth fan pundit has given his reaction to striker Elias Sorensen's departure just six months after joining the club.

Portsmouth striker Elias Sorensen has left the club after just six months at Fratton Park to join Norwegian side Valerenga.

Sorensen only arrived at Portsmouth from Esbjerg in August, and given that he scored 26 goals and provided 15 assists in 33 games for the Danish third tier side last season, he looked to be an exciting signing.

The 25-year-old's Pompey career got off to the perfect start as he scored on his debut in the 3-3 draw at Leeds United on the opening weekend, but that would prove to be the highlight of his time on the South Coast.

Pompey are believed to have received a fee of around £250,000 for Sorensen, which is similar to what they paid for him in the summer, and with the club currently sitting just outside the Championship relegation zone, it remains to be seen whether Mousinho will be allowed to reinvest that money in his squad.

When asked if Sorensen would go down as a flop, FLW'sPortsmouth fan pundit Miltos Ioannidis said that it would be harsh to label him in that way, but he admitted that he was disappointed by the striker's struggles at Fratton Park.

"I can't help but feel that calling Sorensen a flop is a bit of a stretch," Miltos said.

"Sorensen just never quite got going for us, he had that very memorable debut game against Leeds on the opening day of the season where he scored our first goal back in the Championship, and then after that, he just disappeared and faded away.

"Not in the sense that he never played for us again, but he just never quite got a proper opportunity to show himself off, and from the few cameos that he had after that game, he looked a little out of place.

"That's just the brutality of football sometimes and the sad part about the sport because I remember Sorensen's first interview back in the summer when we signed him, and he just sounded so unbelievably buzzing to be joining the club.

"He looked like he was relishing the opportunity, but maybe it was an opportunity that came a bit too soon for him or maybe he just wasn't ever going to be good enough for his level, and there is absolutely no shame in that.

"He had an unbelievable season last season in the Danish third tier, and there is no shame in admitting that maybe he is just not good enough for this level.

"He seems like a lovely lad, I wish him all the best, and I'm really sad to see him go in the way that he's going.

"I can't lie, the news came as a shock, but again, that's the sad part of the sport sometimes, I really wish it worked out for Sorensen at Pompey.

"Some transfers work out and some transfers don't, but I really think that Sorensen still has a future in football, I hope that he goes to Norway, does really well and earns himself another move to a top European league.

"It's sad to see him go, but hopefully he will have learned a lesson or two.

"He's a confident lad, he isn't going to hit rock bottom because of what happened at Pompey, and I truly wish him all the best."

As Miltos says, it would perhaps be unfair to call Sorensen a flop, and the blame should instead be directed towards the Portsmouth recruitment team for what was an underwhelming summer transfer window.

In truth, it is difficult to label too many of Pompey's recent signings as a success at this point, and there is a chance that another summer addition, Sammy Silvera, could have his time at the club cut short in January as his parent club Middlesbrough weigh up whether to recall him from his loan spell.
