Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi offered his verdict on an ominous-looking injury suffered by Carlos Augusto in Bern.

During his post-Young Boys conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Inzaghi addressed various significant topics, including Inter’s remarkable defensive run in the UEFA Champions League.

Marcus Thuram’s stoppage-time winner sealed the deal for the Nerazzurri in Switzerland.

Despite fielding an experimental line-up, Simone Inzaghi oversaw a crucial 1-0 victory at the Stadion Wankdorf.

Another stubborn defensive performance helped the Scudetto holders to a third clean sheet from as many European games this term.

“It wasn’t easy; the Swiss team was physical, and the pitch made it difficult to play,” Inzaghi admitted.

“The boys did well, especially considering Bisseck’s chance, Zielinski’s opportunities, and the penalty.

“The match became complicated, but we won. After Çalhanoğlu, we have Taremi and Arnautovic as penalty takers for their national teams.

“Either could have taken it; Arnautovic shot but missed. He was disappointed, but he needs to keep going.”

“I’m happy with the heart shown by the players,” Simone Inzaghi continued.

However, Inter suffered another injury setback in Bern as Carlo Augusto sustained a thigh problem early in the second half.

“I’m not pleased about Carlos Augusto. We’re in the second round of matches and have some rotation issues,” Inzaghi said.

“I fear Carlos’ injury might be something more serious, while I have good feelings about the others.

“This situation seems the most complicated for us, and it’s crucial during this challenging period.”

Inzaghi blamed a synthetic pitch for the 25-year-old’s injury.

“There was a risk; when you play on a different surface…

“Today that risk was present. During accelerations and decelerations, he felt the problem. This takes away an important player from us.”

Augusto could join Hakan Calhanoglu, Tajon Buchanan, Kristjan Asllani, and Francesco Acerbi in the treatment room.

Indeed, all five first-team stars at risk of missing out on the upcoming game against Juventus.

“We’ll see day by day,” Inzaghi stated.

“Asllani will return to kicking the ball tomorrow, and we’ll assess his pain tolerance. For the other two, we’ll evaluate with the staff.

Meanwhile, Inter can take a moment to celebrate their fifth consecutive win in all competitions.

“You don’t achieve five wins without being at the right level,” Inzaghi insisted.

“The team needs to fix a few things, but we must continue this way; we have seven points in the Champions League.

“This is a special moment for us.”

Inzaghi also hailed Young Boys’ showing.

“We knew they would create difficulties, and they did. With the new coach, they’ve regained their spirit.

“I was impressed by the goalkeeper, who we had highlighted as very good.”
