Davide Frattesi defied a delicate personal moment to inspire Inter Milan to a pivotal Champions League win at Bayern Munich.
Speaking to the press via FCInterNews, Frattesi dedicated his last-gasp winner to his late grandmother.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old’s grandma passed away only days before last night’s kick-off.
Though it was a heavy mental blow for Davide Frattesi, he rose to the occasion at the Allianz Stadium.
Indeed, he came off the bench to notch a potentially tie-defining winner as Inter squeaked past the Bavarians 2-1.
Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez broke the deadlock with one of the finest finishes you’ll see in the Champions League this term.
However, Frattesi’s goal was special as it came in a time of grief for him and his family, offering some consolation to his loved ones.

“We need to stay calm, but this result should give us confidence going into the second leg.
“It’ll be important to know how to suffer like we did today and to be clinical when we get our chances.
“Bayern are a great team, they showed that – but we’re right there.
“We told each other to keep going.
“After thirty minutes of struggling, we started moving the ball better, possession became more balanced.
“Knowing how to suffer was crucial, and it will be again at San Siro.”
Then, he admitted how significant Inter is to him.
“For me, this team isn’t just work – it’s a second family,” he claimed.
“When my grandmother passed away on Saturday, I stayed with the group: they were there for me, just like I try to be there for them.
“That means the world to me.”
Finally, Frattesi addressed the heartbreaking passing of his grandmother.
“She meant a lot to me,” he added. “My family and I have been through a tough time.
“I’m especially happy for them, they got to celebrate.
“That goal will stay with me forever.”
Last but not least, he delivered his verdict on the intense Scudetto battle with Napoli.
“Their draw gave us an extra push.
“It’s those little things that give you that spark, and in matches like these, that can make the difference.
