Inter Milan Eye Liverpool Starlet Quansah – But At What Price?

Interest from Italy Builds Around Young Defender

Jarell Quansah’s rollercoaster season at Liverpool is now drawing interest from the continent, with Spazio Inter reporting that Inter Milan are closely monitoring the 22-year-old centre-back. Quansah’s campaign began with a rough outing against Ipswich Town, where he was substituted at half-time in Liverpool’s Premier League opener. From there, appearances became sporadic.

In Arne Slot’s new-look Liverpool, trust had to be rebuilt. Mistakes in the Carabao Cup against Brighton, including a misplaced pass that led to Simon Adingra’s goal and a deflected own goal, only added to the scepticism. Though the Reds won 3-2, it was another dent in the young defender’s confidence.

Slot’s Trust Slowly Rebuilt

What followed was a quiet resurgence. Slot, to his credit, didn’t write the youngster off. Tactical flexibility, including covering at right-back, and consistent effort in training slowly turned the tide. Liverpool have since made their stance clear – Quansah “has been labelled as not being for sale this summer despite interest.”

Inter Milan’s Defensive Puzzle

That hasn’t deterred Inter Milan. Spazio Inter reveal that Simone Inzaghi is “casting an eye on Quansah” as he seeks defensive reinforcements. Though Yann Bisseck currently fills a vital role in Inzaghi’s backline, his positional errors have raised doubts. The Italian club is reportedly seeking “an upgrade.”

Inter’s system – a back three requiring defenders to cover large spaces and distribute confidently – makes Quansah an ideal profile. Standing 190cm tall, he brings “quality on the ball and ability to cover spaces effectively,” according to Spazio Inter.

Disputed Valuation Raises Eyebrows

Perhaps the most surprising detail is valuation. Spazio Inter believe that Quansah is only worth €20m (£17m) – a figure that seems out of step with market reality, especially considering Liverpool sold Sepp van den Berg for a potential £25m to Brentford just last summer.

With interest in Quansah on the rise, Liverpool’s stance may be tested – though any negotiation would likely start well above the quoted valuation.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

Expectant Liverpool fans will watch this situation with a mix of intrigue and pride. On one hand, Quansah’s journey from raw talent to international interest is a testament to both his resilience and the club’s development structure. But on the other, there’s frustration that his progress could now be undervalued by clubs like Inter Milan.

“€20m? It’s insulting,” one could imagine a Kopite fuming. “He’s done the hard yards, bounced back after mistakes, and now he’s showing signs of maturity – and they want him on the cheap?”

Arne Slot’s trust in Quansah – using him even in awkward positions like emergency right-back – speaks volumes. For Liverpool fans, this isn’t just a player coming good; it’s one of their own maturing on the big stage.

From a tactical perspective, letting Quansah leave – especially for under £30m – would be a significant risk. With Joel Matip leaving and Van Dijk ageing, keeping youthful defensive depth isn’t just a luxury – it’s a necessity.

So while Inter Milan’s interest flatters, Liverpool supporters will hope their club laughs off any such derisory offer. This is a defender with long-term Anfield potential. And that’s priceless.
