It Was First Half – Fenerbahce Star Not Ruling Out Turning Tables On Rangers | OneFootball

Fenerbahce star Dusan Tadic believes that Rangers punished the mistakes his side made during the game on Thursday evening, but warned that they are just halfway through the tie.

Barry Ferguson’s Rangers took on Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the first leg of the last 16 Europa League tie between the two teams.

Cyriel Dessers gave the Gers an early lead, but Fenerbahce equalised in the 30th minute with Alexander Djiku’s strike, but before the half-time whistle, Vaclav Cerny restored the lead, only to make it 3-1 in the 80th minute from Nicolas Raskin’s pass after he struck again.

Tadic admitted that the result was unexpected for Fenerbahce, who had started the game as favourites on home turf, and stressed that Rangers managed to punish their mistakes.

He admitted that Rangers do have quality but warned that the second half of the tie is still there to be played, where they are determined to perform well to turn the tables on the tie at Ibrox.

“Definitely an unexpected result. Rangers have quality, but we have quality too”, Tadic told Turkish broadcaster A Spor.

“We conceded easy goals that we shouldn’t have conceded.

“We could have been much more organised.

“They punished the mistakes we made.

“We played the first half of the round and we will go there to win.

“Our aim is to get a good result there to go through the round.”

Rangers now will approach the game against Fenerbahce at Ibrox being in an advantageous situation and will be hoping to get the job done to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Gers however have lost their last three games at Ibrox, something which will give Mourinho’s Fenerbahce encouragement that they are still in the tie, despite having a two-goal deficit to make up in Scotland.

Fenerbahce scored twice at Anderlecht in their last away Europa League game, but they also conceded twice.
