Ivan Jurić provides update on defensive pair ahead of Chelsea clash | OneFootball

Southampton manager Ivan Jurić confirmed that centre-back Jan Bednarek is ruled out of the Saints' match against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Bednarek came off injured after just 12 minutes on Saturday during Southampton's 4-0 defeat against Brighton.

"Bednarek will be out of this game, it’s nothing serious. Just fatigue." Jurić said.

The Saints' boss also provided an update on Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who has been ruled out since the 2-1 win at Ipswich in February.

Jurić said the English centre-back could make the matchday squad, but a start is unlikely for the 23-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

"Harwood-Bellis will be in the [squad], if he trains today he could be on the bench."

Southampton are bottom of the Premier League and have taken just nine points from 26 matches this season.
