“I’ve got one message” – Souness sends stern warning to critics of Chelsea player who “oozes class”

Graeme Souness has told critics of Cole Palmer to “back off” as he leapt to the defence of the England international.
Palmer is currently on his worst run of form since joining Chelsea and has failed to score in the last seven games in all competitions.
The 22-year-old was guilty of missing two big chances against Southampton, but he promised supporters he’d be back in a message on social media after the game.
Despite his recent struggles Palmer has still been Chelsea’s go to man this season, and he’s got 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League so far.
Chelsea are said to relaxed about Palmer’s future even if they don’t qualify for the Champions League, whilst there’s believed to be no exit clauses in his contract relating to missing out on Europe’s premier club competition.
For all the money spent on the squad, the Blues are still seemingly reliant on Palmer playing well in order for them to pick up results, with the supporting cast failing to step up.

The likes of Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke have all lacked consistency, whilst Joao Felix has already left the club despite only signing last summer.
Craig Burley has claimed Palmer has stopped influencing games, but Souness has leapt to the defence of the attacker.
“I’ve got one message for the critics of Cole Palmer: back off!,” he told Mail Sport.
“Just because he has gone seven games without scoring people are now questioning his body language. He still looks dangerous to me. I don’t see any downing of tools in effort – as seven shots against Southampton should testify.

“You look at a player’s body language throughout the 90 minutes and I just see a totally focused young player.
“With Chelsea not winning games recently, people are pointing the finger at Palmer and I’m afraid, young man, you set that bar yourself. He is going through a quieter period, but we will see him scoring goals again. He oozes class.”
