The Philadelphia Union, prior to their hire of Bradley Carnell as Manager (which I will break down in a separate article) made two moves to kick off 2025. First, the club re-signed club captain and all time great Alejandro Bedoya for the 2025 season. The 37 year old former U.S. international helped take home the club’s lone trophy in the 2020 Supporters’ Shield. Bedoya played just over 2,000 minutes in 2024 contributing 4 goal contributions. Now, Bedoya will continue to try and raise up the club’s all time leaderboards for club appearances (2nd - 288), goals (8th - 29), and assists (3rd - 30th).

The Union also signed 23 year old centerback Ian Glavinovich on a loan deal from Newell’s Old Boys. Glavinovich has recently represented Argentina at the U23 international level. He’s played his entire professional career with Newell’s Old Boys, making 30 appearances with 1 assist. In 2024, he did play almost 1,700 minutes for NOB across all competitions. The Union have an option to buy after the completion of his one year loan.

It will be interesting to see what the post-Jim Curtin era will continue to shape out like moving forward for the Union organization.
