Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez has this week revealed his hopes of a leading member of the defensive ranks at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur joining him in Spain’s capital.

The player in question? Cristian Romero.

The name of Argentine international Romero has proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines surrounding Atlético Madrid over recent weeks.

This comes amid the understanding that, amid their ongoing search for reinforcements at the back, Diego Simeone and co. have earmarked the former Juventus man as the ideal signing.

And as alluded to above, one individual who would be nothing short of delighted with such a transfer comes in the form of Julián Álvarez.

After himself leaving the Premier League behind for Atlético last summer, Julián Álvarez was asked by Diario AS if he would like to join forces with fellow countryman Romero at the Metropolitano next season.

And the frontman, in the midst of a fine debut season in La Liga, went on to respond:

“I hope Cuti Romero will come to Atlético, he’d help us a lot. Here it is more similar to Argentina.”
