Juventus are reportedly in contact with Premier League side Newcastle over a potential deal for versatile defender Lloyd Kelly as the Bianconeri continue their search for another centre-back in the January transfer window.

The Bianconeri have already welcomed Alberto Costa from Vitoria SC earlier this week, Randal Kolo Muani has passed his medicals too, but the Bianconeri are still hoping to add another centre-back to their ranks this month to cover for the long-term injured Bremer.

Milan’s Fikayo Tomori remains an option, but reports from Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that Kelly could be an alternative.

The Englishman is not a guaranteed starter at St James’ Park under Eddie Howe, having featured in just nine Premier League matches this season, only four of which were as a starter.

Di Marzio reports that Newcastle value the Englishman in the region of €30m, which is still likely to be too much for Juventus in January given their current budget restraints. There are some conflicting reports on the requested fee, however, as some outlets claim a deal could be done closer to the €20m mark.

Transfer experts Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano report that Juventus have proposed an initial deal in the region of €13m, but the Bianconeri could be prepared to up that to €15m.

Kelly had briefly been linked with a move to Milan over the summer, as he was available on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with AFC Bournemouth. Newcastle eventually snapped him up, bringing a reunion with former Bournemouth coach Howe, and he is now tied to a contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
