Former Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara feels Thiago Motta’s communication must improve and warns the Bianconeri coach about four problems he must deal with.

Juventus are currently out of the top four in Serie A and faced elimination in the Supercoppa semifinal at the hands of Milan.

Last summer, the Old Lady invested around €200m in new signings, and fans and pundits expected them to fight for the title. Although they are still unbeaten in Serie A, bettors and bookmakers on the crypto casino app no longer see the Bianconeri as a legitimate candidate for the Scudetto in 2024-25.

“Sometimes, the result does not reflect what is shown on the pitch; this is why football is so beautiful and unpredictable,” Ferrara told Tuttosport.

“Honestly, Juventus did well in the first half against Milan and in part of the second half. However, the game lasted 90 minutes, and Milan held tight and remained in the game.

“It’s been a tough season for Juventus; perhaps the club and the fans hoped for a different path. I can talk from experience and I can say that the elimination hasn’t been taken lightly,” continued Ferrara.

The former Italy international agreed with his ex-teammate Alessio Tacchinardi that Juventus have lacked a winning mentality this term.

“You must strongly desire certain victories. I also experienced tough moments, and when you are at Juventus, you must be able to manage the criticism,” Ferrara argued.

“Historically, Juventus are not accustomed to only fighting for a Champions League spot. They usually fight for the Scudetto. You can win it or not, but that must be the target. Juventus invested a lot in the summer, so it was legitimate to expect something more.”

Do Juventus need more help from their leaders, and what’s the main issue for Thiago Motta?

“The leaders are those who know the environment better. Those with more experience,” Ferrara replied.

“Juventus have one of those, but apparently, he will leave [Danilo].

“It’s about external communication. You should convey a desire to have an important role. I was surprised to hear Motta say that winning is not an obsession. When I arrived at Juventus, the first thing I heard was, ‘We must win.’ I replied, ‘That’s fine; we’ll try.’

“The problem is not Thiago Motta, the problem is the communication and what he and Juventus are expected to achieve.

“Juventus sacked a winning coach like Allegri, his career speaks for itself. They sacked him because they wanted a nice playing style. The first thing Conceiçao said at Milan was that he does not care about playing well.

“Thiago has four problems. One, he must qualify for the Champions League, second, he must try to get back in the Scudetto race. Three: he must win at least one title and four, he must play well. Even Sarri’s priority was to play well, but ultimately, he still won.”
