Kasper Schmeichel still recovering from Dortmund mauling

Kasper Schmeichel is still recovering from the mauling in Dortmund, but he’s still a top class goalkeeper for both Celtic and Denmark…

Kasper Schmeichel has been a superb signing for Celtic. Some would even say an upgrade on Joe Hart who was also superb for us between the sticks.

Kasper like the rest to the side had a nightmare in Dortmund as Celtic were thumped 7-1 just a few weeks ago, and like the rest of the players he also looked as if he was still a little reeling in the narrow 2-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall last Sunday.

Kasper has joined up with the Danish national side for Nation league duty and we was possession of the gloves in the Danes 1-0 loss against Spain in Murcia at the weekend. Kasper came in for some criticism after being deemed as responsible by some for the Spaniards winning goal which came from Martin Zubimendi.

Some reckoned that a keeper of Kasper’s quality should have saved the Real Sociedad man’s strike which squirmed under his body, and maybe he should have, but they also forget that he kept the Danes in the game with a number of impressive saves which kept his nation in the game before that winning goal against a top class side.

Kasper like all keepers will make a mistake now and then, but I’ve no doubt that he will come through this tough spell and prove he’s still a top class keeper. He still has an important role to play for us this season.

We should have no worries about Kasper wearing the gloves for Celtic this season.
