Marc Kosicke, the agent of former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp, has ruled out a move to Roma for his client, insisting that Tuesday’s reports from La Stampa are ‘not true’.

Reports from Italian outlet La Stampa on Tuesday morning claimed that Klopp has a verbal agreement in place to become the new head coach of Roma once Claudio Ranieri steps down at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Ranieri is currently serving as interim head coach, but will step into a directorship role at the end of the current campaign, and will be involved in the selection of his successor in the dugout.

La Stampa claimed that Klopp has already had discussions over potential transfer reinforcements at the Stadio Olimpico, but his agent, Kosicke, claims that there is no truth behind the report.

“This news is not true,” Kosicke said in a short statement to winwin.com.

Klopp stepped away from his role as head coach of Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season after a nine-year spell during which he won every single trophy possible at club level, including the club’s sixth Champions League and their first ever top-flight title in the Premier League era.

He has since been serving as the head of global soccer for Red Bull, whose clubs include RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, RB Bragantino, plus stakes in Leeds United and Paris FC. As of January 2025, Red Bull also have a sponsorship agreement in place with Atletico Madrid.

Klopp reportedly signed a five-year contract with Red Bull, which officially began on January 1, 2025, which means that he is currently committed until 2030.
