The French national team announced their squad on Thursday afternoon for the international break which takes place next week.
As Didier Deschamps’ picks were unveiled, there were a few talking points, primarily the exclusion of Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The French striker has been the subject of a few injury scares in recent weeks, with many speculating he would spend some time on the sideline, but the 25-year-old continued to feature for Real Madrid.
Deschamps has indicated that the exclusion is due to a muscle issue, which the forward has likely been battling with over the last couple of weeks.
This exclusion likely comes as a much-needed break for Mbappe, who has had very little time off over the past 12 months for both club and country. Fellow Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy also misses out on the squad.
Elsewhere, Barcelona star Jules Kounde features in the squad, whilst Mbappe’s Real Madrid teammates Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouameni also feature.
France will take on Israel in Budapest next Thursday before travelling to face Belgium on Monday 14th October in Brussels.
