Aside from their Europa League heartbreak, Lazio have been finding much more success in April, at least when compared with their February and March form. The Biancocelesti collected seven out of nine possible points from their three Serie A fixtures this month, thanks to away wins over Atalanta and Genoa, and a draw in the Derby della Capitale against Roma (when they were the better side).
Marco Baroni’s men currently sit 6th in the Serie A table, on par on points with 5th-placed Juventus, and only a single point behind Bologna in 4th place. Hence, a spot in the next edition of the Champions League remains very much in their grasp.
Not so long ago, Parma seemed doomed after enduring a mid-season collapse, but Christian Chivu has succeeded in lifting the spirits of the young squad after replacing Fabio Pecchia at the helm. The Crociati registered five straight draws before stunning Juventus on Wednesday thanks to Mateo Pellegrino’s solid header.
Hence, the Emilians are now riding a six-match undefeated streak, and have collected five points from their last three outings against Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus, which certainly makes them a tough nut to crack.
Lazio (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Marusic, Gigot, Gila, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni; Castellanos.
Parma (3-5-2): Suzuki; Leoni, Hainaut, Valenti; Delprato, Estevez, Keita, Sohm, Valeri; Pellegrino, Bonny.
Despite playing Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Juventus in their last three fixtures, Parma somehow managed to remain unbeaten. Nevertheless, Lazio will be the more determined side on Monday. While it won’t be easy, the revived partnership of Boulaye Dia and Tat Castellanos should tip the scale in favor of the Aquile, albeit by a small margin.
