After a record-breaking four consecutive league titles, Manchester City's iron-clad grip on the Premier League slipped dramatically last season - but their form in 2025 suggests Pep Guardiola's side have regrouped.
The Cityzens endured a terrible campaign by their sky-high standards: finishing trophy-less (if you discount the Community Shield!) and third in the Premier League behind Arsenal and Arne Slot's triumphant Liverpool.
Sixth in the top flight at the end of 2024, City struggled in unprecedented fashion; the Cityzens' five game losing streak between October and November the longest in Guardiola's career as a manager - the loss of Ballon d'Or winner Rodri arguably the catalyst behind a stunning drop-off in form.
Beaten by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final last weekend, City blew their one remaining shot at a major trophy to set the seal on a miserable campaign - but their league form in 2025 shows that their fall from grace may only be temporary.
Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland earned City a final day win over Fulham to confirm a 3rd-place finish in the Premier League - and those three points meant the 2022/23 Champions League winners actually racked up more top flight points than any team in 2025.
It could be argued that champions Liverpool took their foot off the gas after clinching the title, but City's 40 point tally since the turn of the year was more than the Reds (39) and Premier League runners-up Arsenal (38).
With reports suggesting that City are set to splash the cash this summer, and Rodri now on the comeback trail, there seems every chance that Guardiola's side will be back on the warpath next season.
