Leeds' right-back was rewarded for his bravery in following an attack into the penalty area, with Bogle's 19th minute goal setting Daniel Farke's side on their way to a big three points in the race for automatic promotion. Piroe rounded off the scoring deep into second-half stoppage time, lifting Elland Road tension.

For QPR and Marti Cifuentes, their early season struggle continues, and they sink to the bottom of the Championship table heading into the November international break.

It took Leeds a little while to get going, but Daniel Farke still watched his side take the lead inside the first 20 minutes.

Brenden Aaronson rattled the crossbar from 20 yards, moments before QPR made a mess of clearing wave after wave of the home side's attacks, allowing Jayden Bogle to finish left-footed off the underside of the crossbar.

Sam Field kept QPR in the game as Leeds looked to turn the screw, blocking good efforts from Aaronson and Ao Tanaka.

Jimmy Dunne went closest at the other end for QPR with a header from a free-kick, but it was Leeds threatening the game's second goal - Manor Solomon's effort disallowed after a Sam Byram offside in the build-up.

Byram headed a Tanaka cross wide going into half-time, but it took until the hour for Leeds to create anything of note beyond that. Willy Gnonto's driving run from midfield teed up Solomon, who was denied by the onrushing Paul Nardi.

Field had Elland Road hearts in their mouths as he scooped a shot over the crossbar of Illan Meslier, before Nardi was again on hand to keep QPR in the contest, denying Bogle's shot.

Zan Celar - an isolated figure for large parts of the game - spurned a golden opportunity for an equaliser, curling over Meslier's crossbar after Leeds gifted up possession in a dangerous area.

Where QPR's striker wasn't clinical enough, Leeds' was. Joel Piroe stepped off the bench to secure the points with a 95th minute finish beyond Nardi.

Leeds' summer signing tipped to get better

"It's one of his strengths and one of the reasons we signed him (his attacking ability).

In this league, we want an attacking full-back that can also provide a threat going forwards with assists and goals. I'm pleased for him that he scored the goal - I'm not sure it was the tidiest finish but tidier than the finishes before.

"It's a strength of Jayden going forwards. He's a brave player and, as we deliver so many clean sheets, he has the licence to go forwards - we work on this a lot, our option to attack down the wing with him in a wide position or out of the pocket.

"The longer he is with us the more strengths he brings. We need this, especially against deep-sitting opponents. We need defensive players chipping in with goals and assists, and we are happy that we have him."

"The most important thing in the international break is that we have some time to recover some players. That's, for me, the main target.

"Keep training, keep understanding that we need a mental break to recover from a tough week. The last two games have been extremely disappointing. We need to keep working. That's the only way to get out of this situation."
