A shock emerged for Leicester City supporters on Monday morning. News emerged that two members of the Foxes staff had been dismissed from their roles at King Power Stadium. Ben Dawson, who was described as a 'First-team coach' joined with former LCFC manager Steve Cooper. So too did Danny Alcock, a goalkeeping trainer. Many of the Blue Army fan base were confused over their continued presence following Cooper's departure. Yet the pair carried on under Ruud van Nistelrooy.
It has been wrongly reported that the ownership or director of football at King Power were responsible for Dawson and Acock's respective exits. However according to a typically reliable source, it wasn't Leicester City chiefs who sacked coaches - it was van Nistelrooy. If only the Dutchman could exhibit such decisiveness as a team boss. The ruthlessness shown would also be ideal within the Leicester side at present as well!
Evidently this information revealed by The Telegraph is rather contrary to the typical view of van Nistelrooy within the footballing community. The 48-year-old is remembered for being a goalscorer of the highest quality. Though a lot of spectators will recall his very measured and almost timid response to Arsenal henchmen jumping all over him during his Manchester United playing days.
Van Nistelrooy clearly showed a killer edge when protecting his own job by sacrificing others. They were not men he appointed, therefore no moral obligation existed as such. So why were the coaching duo relieved of Foxes duty? And will RvN be next to go?
Van Nistelrooy figuratively 'wielded an axe' in sacking a couple of his backroom staff. Additionally, RvN was 'given a vote of confidence' by the Leicester powers that be. The ex-professional footballer apparently did so in order to 'revive the club’s season'.
