With Ipswich Town’s relegation from the Premier League confirmed over the weekend, 22-year-old striker Liam Delap is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Despite the team's struggles, Delap has been a standout performer, scoring 12 goals in the league and drawing interest from several top clubs. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle are all reportedly monitoring the young forward, along with Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.
Leverkusen are believed to be particularly keen, as they prepare for the potential departure of Victor Boniface this summer, should a move to Saudi Arabia arise again. Delap is thought to favour a move to a club competing in European competitions, which could narrow his options.
Manchester United’s interest may cool depending on the outcome of their pursuit of Matheus Cunha and their own European qualification status. A lack of continental football next season could make Old Trafford a less appealing destination for Delap.
The striker has a £40 million (€47 million) release clause, and any move is expected to be completed swiftly. Delap is likely to decide on his next club before joining up with the England squad for the Under-21 European Championship this summer.
