According to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique de Marseille central defender Lilian Brassier (25) has rejected an offer from a club outside of France. Les Olympiens are looking to offload the Frenchman, who only joined the club in the summer on a loan move with an obligation to buy set at €12m this summer after a sensational season with Stade Brestois. It is a complicated deal to pull off, however, as OM would have to terminate the loan deal with Brest and thus trigger an early obligation to buy clause early. It requires talks with Stade Brestois as well as the club interested in buying Brassier. Stade Rennais, Racing Club de Lens, and both VFB Stuttgart and Wolfsburg have previously been reported as interested in the defender. The move could also be changing at OM towards Brassier, who featured during Les Olympiens’ 1-1 draw against Strasbourg at the Vélodrome last weekend. If Roberto De Zerbi opts more often for a central back three, it could see the Frenchman enter back into the fray. But as far as the club is aware, Brassier is still on sale. GFFN | George Boxall
