Liverpool have entered the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitiké, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. The 22-year-old Frenchman, fresh off a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga, is expected to leave Frankfurt this summer, and Anfield has emerged as a potential destination.
Talks between Ekitiké and Liverpool have already taken place, with Arne Slot reportedly a keen admirer of the striker’s blend of pace, technical ability and composure in front of goal.
Ekitiké enjoyed a stellar season in Germany, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists. His performances were crucial in helping Frankfurt secure third place and Champions League qualification. Notably, he stepped up significantly in the second half of the season following Omar Marmoush’s departure to Manchester City.

While Liverpool’s interest is concrete, any potential deal will come at a significant cost. Frankfurt are said to value the player at around €100 million – a price that would require serious consideration at Anfield.
With Chelsea also in the frame, this could become one of the summer’s transfer battles to watch.
This kind of transfer link is exactly what you want to see in the early stages of a new era under Arne Slot. Hugo Ekitiké isn’t just a talent – he’s a forward with the profile to lead a front line for years to come.
Twenty-two goals and twelve assists in a competitive Bundesliga campaign is no fluke. He’s been consistent, decisive and importantly, he delivered when his team needed him most after Marmoush left. That speaks volumes about his mentality and maturity.
Slot clearly sees something in him, and with Liverpool preparing to refresh their attack, Ekitiké could be the kind of versatile forward to thrive in a high-pressing, quick-transition system.
The price tag is steep, yes, but if you want top-tier talent, especially a striker already proving himself in European football, that’s the going rate. Chelsea’s involvement makes it more urgent – we’ve lost out to them before, and fans won’t want history repeating itself.
Ekitiké to Anfield? Make it happen, Hughes.
