As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool are planning to replace the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jérémie Frimpong.
Reports of Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid have been circulating for some time, and now it’s reportedly all sealed – the Liverpool native will move to the current La Liga champions this summer.
The Red’s head coach, Arne Slot, has never changed his mind on who he wants as a replacement and that’s Jérémie Frimpong. The Dutchman is in direct contact with Frimpong as he tries to lure the wing-back to the Premier League.
As per the report, there has been regular discussions via text messages between both representatives and a first physical encounter could be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are expected to test the waters with a first offer this summer before adjusting their proposal to better match Leverkusen’s evaluation of Frimpong.
Director of football at Liverpool, Michael Edwards, has a good working relationship with B04 but will have to try and make a deal within Liverpool’s strict transfer budget. The owners will not spend without reason and want to try to keep spending at a minimum for now.
However, Liverpool still believe they have a great chance of signing Frimpong this summer.
