Liverpool can take a step closer to defending their Carabao Cup crown and winning a first piece of silverware under Arne Slot when they visit Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The Reds journey to north London for the first leg of their semi-final having beaten Spurs 6-3 in the Premier League just three days before Christmas. A similarly emphatic victory would put them in a commanding position to reach the showpiece event for the third time in four seasons.

Slot has been fortunate with injuries during the festive period, with Joe Gomez his only confirmed absentee for the trip to Tottenham. Liverpool are primed to take advantage of their luckless opponents, who have seen their squad decimated by fitness issues this term.

Here is how Liverpool could line up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher - Kelleher has been the goalkeeper of choice in the Carabao Cup and may retain his starting berth in the latter stages. There are not many better deputies in English football than Liverpool's No.62.

RB: Conor Bradley - After Trent Alexander-Arnold's shocker at the weekend against Manchester United and continuous discussions over his future, the right-back may be taken out of the limelight on Wednesday. Bradley is an excellent reserve option having just returned from injury.

CB: Jarell Quansah - Ibrahima Konate also made his comeback against Man Utd but the Frenchman is unlikely to feature in back-to-back matches so soon after his return, especially given his fitness record. Quansah could fill in, even if he's failed to convince under Slot.

CB: Virgil van Dijk - Van Dijk often looked bemused by his fellow defenders at the weekend and will want a sturdier performance from his teammates against Spurs. The Dutchman will be tested by former teammate Dominic Solanke in the capital.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas - Andy Robertson's form has been patchy this season and he's played a significant number of matches over the festive period. He could be replaced by Tsimikas, who will have his hands full with livewire Brennan Johnson.

DM: Ryan Gravenberch - The Dutch midfielder will be tasked with keeping the indefatigable Dejan Kulusevski quiet, something which proved difficult during Liverpool's win over Spurs in December.

DM: Alexis Mac Allister - Mac Allister scored an opportunistic header in the six-goal win last month and has been in strong creative form. He's provided three assists in his last three for the Reds, splitting Man Utd's defence with an excellent pass as Liverpool equalised at the weekend.

RW: Mohamed Salah - The Egyptian extended his excellent goalscoring record against Man Utd at the weekend and is primed to do the same against Tottenham. He's netted 14 and provided four assists in 21 meetings, including four goal contributions in December.

AM: Curtis Jones - Dominik Szoboszlai, who starred in this fixture at the end of last year, is doubtful to feature due to illness, meaning Jones could get the nod. He wasn't at his sharpest against Man Utd but will be keen to unnerve a misfiring Spurs defence.

LW: Cody Gakpo - The impressive Dutch forward has managed four goals and two assists in his last six appearances, although he was one of the few who didn't score or assist against Tottenham recently.

ST: Diogo Jota - Jota hasn't started for the Reds since returning from injury in December, such has been the dazzling form of Gakpo and Luis Diaz. However, he could feature from the off on Wednesday, with Diaz perhaps rested and Darwin Nunez struggling for form.
