Liverpool to Only Pursue Tottenham Target as Florian Wirtz Backup Amid PSG Exit | OneFootball

PSG had reportedly been keeping tabs on Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki, who’s also attracting attention from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

The 21-year-old is enjoying a standout season, with 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances. His breakout campaign has firmly established him as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.

Graeme Bailey of TBR Football previously reported that Manchester United are one of several Premier League sides monitoring Cherki. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle are also believed to be tracking his progress.

Interest in Cherki isn’t limited to England. Bayern Munich and PSG were thought to be back in the mix following his strong form. However, Foot Mercato recently reported that PSG have stepped away from the race, with no talks taking place and none expected anytime soon.

On Saturday, Football Insider reported, citing sources, that Liverpool could pursue a £19 million move for Cherki. However, the Lyon midfielder is not among their top targets and would only come into serious consideration if they fail to land Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa are showing stronger interest in bringing Cherki to the Premier League, with Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan also keeping tabs on his situation.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Manchester United have entered the race for Rayan Cherki. As for Liverpool, Cherki is not currently a priority and isn’t considered a hot topic within the club. Their focus for that position remains firmly on Florian Wirtz.

Recently, Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says there have been plenty of talks about PSG going after Cherki, but for now, they’re not planning to make a move.
