Liverpool could be without Diogo Jota against Brentford today, though Luis Diaz is expected to be fit.

The Reds are gearing up for another difficult away journey in the Premier League but remain in control of the title race despite Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with high-flying Nottingham Forest.

Manager Arne Slot saw substitutes Jota and Kostas Tsimikas instantly combine for Liverpool’s equaliser at the City Ground, underlining the strength in depth available to the Dutchman.

However, Jota is now a doubt to face Brentford, having missed training on Thursday with a new knock sustained against Forest.

"There is no doubt about the fact Jota is an important player for us, but he wasn't on the training ground yesterday so that means we have to see today where he is,” Slot said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"So, it is not sure he will be available for tomorrow. We have to wait and see today.

"He felt a little bit when he came in [at Forest], a little niggle during the half-hour he came in. He could finish the game, but afterwards he complained a bit about it and that's why he didn't train yesterday.

"We have to wait and see if he is available today and then, of course, tomorrow."

Darwin Nunez is back from suspension for the clash at the Gtech Community Stadium and will hope Jota’s potential absence gives him a chance to lead the line.

Diaz missed training on Thursday due to a sore throat but that is not expected to keep him out of Saturday’s match.

Joe Gomez (hamstring) remains sidelined and Slot confirmed this week that the England defender is not close to making a return.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz

Doubt: Jota
