Long-term Barcelona injury absentee to return to the grass next week | OneFootball

An altogether encouraging update on the injury recovery efforts of Barcelona starlet Marc Bernal has on Wednesday been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that the midfielder is closing on a return to the training pitch.

Bernal, for his part, was of course dealt a hammer blow back in August.

After establishing himself as a key figure in the engine room setup of new boss Hansi Flick at just 17 years of age, Bernal picked up a knee problem late in a 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano.

As much was subsequently confirmed to be an ACL tear, ruling the starlet out for the long-term.

Updates on his recovery have since been few and far between, amid hopes of Bernal being back fully fit and firing for the beginning of next season.

As alluded to above, though, on Wednesday, a rare insight into the Spaniard’s current situation has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Barca insider Toni Juanmarti of Diario Sport, and confirms:

‘Marc Bernal will be stepping onto the pitch at the Ciudad Deportiva next week. He’s ahead of schedule.’
